Washing, combing, and blow drying hair does not cause hair loss. What can lead to hair loss is harsh chemicals such as relaxants and bleach, and therefore, these should be avoided by all women with thinning hair.
Following hair transplantation, we want all of our patients to wash their hair with a mild shampoo the next morning. Washing, combing, and blow drying will not affect the transplanted hair.
Hair loss is rarely due to vitamin deficiency or diet in the United States. If there is any question of a poor diet contributing to hair loss we help our patients find the correct medical personnel to correct the underlying nutrition problem.
