Spironolactone has been used for many years to treat hair loss. In our experience it is most effective for patients with acne and/or hair loss due to hormonal imbalances.
This meta analysis demonstrates that there is no increased risk of cancer when using it. As with all medications spironolactone can have side effects and it is important to review potential side effects before using it.
